New Zealand

Go west towards the island of New Zealand part of the austral-asia continent.. It is situated right in the Pacific Oceans and about 1200 miles southeast of Australia and is pretty much a isolated island all by itself with only australia and fiji north. It is split into to mainlands, the northern and southern islands. New Zealand has a population of 4,393,500 people with a land area of 268,o21 km2. GDP per capita there is $28,722, more than most islands. The currency used in new zealand is the NZD (New Zealand dollar) and the main language is english with more than 90% of the people speaking it and then another 4% speak the native maori. In 1642 the first europeans set foot on the land (Dutch man a couple counterparts, his crew) but due to hostility between the europeans and native tribes resulted in four members being killed and europeans not visiting the islands for almost 100 years!!! A neat place to visit on these islands is the Mt. Cook or Aoraki National Park, it is a beautiful place to see and this is why... The Mount Cook National Park is located in New Zealand on the south island and over 40 percent of the park is covered with glaciers. The land area for the park is 700 km2 and although its fairly young they are continually growing, at a rate of 5 to 10mm per year. There are about 400 different types of plants or vegetation that make up the park and is more than 40 species of birds also living within the national park. You can also do recreational activities such as hunting and skiing (etc.). Now its time to leave this wonderful place and head into the continent of Asia to a very obscure place right under China and above India, NEPAL!!!
